Eyes are one of the important organs of our body. The vision of eyes must be right and good. Contact lenses are the optical devices used in place of the simple glasses to see a clear vision of the things. When the lenses have been introduced then only lenses of glass were available. Sometimes, these lenses cause the irritation in the eyes.  Contact lenses are allowed to wear for a limited duration of time. Lenses are either composed of the transparent plastic or of glass. Contact lenses are available in different colors. At present, very few people like to wear glasses, most of them want to go for contact lenses as the lenses are invisible and also very lightweight. There are a lot of reasons for wearing the contact lenses as some people wear the lenses as to offer a different and attractive look, some want to see their eyes with different color and so on. Contact lenses can be classified into various types as corrective contact lenses, cosmetic contact lenses, therapeutic lenses many other types as per constructional material. Corrective contact lenses are used for the purpose of clear vision. Corrective contact lenses are required to neutralize the mismatch between the refractive power and the length of the eye. Second one is the cosmetic contact lenses, these lenses are used by the people to change the appearance of the eyes. Next are the therapeutic contact lenses which are mostly used for the treatments of some of the disorders of the eyes. These lenses are used for the treatment of conditions like comeal ulcers, dry eyes, bullous kertopthy, comeal ectrsis etc. Simple lens includes single optical element while in a compound lens with common axis many lenses are arranged in an array.

 Contact lenses are available in various sizes. A lens solution is available for the lenses by the help of which one has to regular wash the lenses with the help of the solution before keep the solution inside the lens case. At present, lenses are existing for both daily wear or for continue night wear. Dailywear lenses are allowed to wear during day time, don’t during sleeping while continue overnight time can be easily wear for about whole day and around six nights. As the way of designs differ the use of the lens. Lens for both spherical and cylindrical numbers are available. Lenses are designed in such a manner that their orientation is maintained. While using lens, one has to have full knowledge about the usage insertion, removal and care of the contact lenses.
